In 1997 Roland Seidel, who originates from Germany renamed the farm Seidelberg, his enhancement programme over the last 10 years has transformed this Historic Wine Estate into one of SA's finest wine tourism destinations. During your visit to Paarl, be sure to go to Seidelberg for fine wines in a setting with overwhelmingly beautiful views. Sample award winning wines in our cosy underground tasting room or under the new pergola whilst enjoying majestic views of Table Mountain and the Simonsberg Mountain range. The relaxed, informal atmosphere as well as the tranquil surroundings is perfect for wine tasting. Guided cellar tours are available in various languages for visitors who would like more insight into the winemaking process. Informative tours give a wonderful overview of the vineyard and cellar practices giving the visitor a deeper appreciation of the wine making process.
Charles Back’s philosophy is that wine is an integral and joyful part of everyday life. His unbridled enthusiasm, sense of fun and pure pleasure in growing vines, vinifying wine, and presenting it to wine lovers in all manner of exciting guises, pervades Fairview. You sense it when visiting. It’s a busy, happy, humming place. You get to taste and buy a vast array of different styles: from top-end, exclusive, often one-off bottlings through some fine Fairview standards to easy drinkers. An old maturation cellar has been converted into a casual Mediterranean-styled indoor/outdoor eatery called The Goatshed.
Master distiller, Helmut Wilderer, moved his distillery operation to Paarl in 2002. He produces a vast range of distilled products, including Eau de Vie, Grappa, Schnapps, Kirschwasser, Himbeergeist, Obstler, and Healing Fynbos Bitter. Make sure to visit Wilderer’s Distillery, where you can also listen soft, smooth Jazz during a relaxed Sunday lunch (summer months) whilst enjoying his famous Flammekuchen.
